All old grass has to be extracted from the project space prior to installing the new turf. A way to do that, as well as save time and labor includes using a sod cutter. You may rent one yourself or Red Carpet Landscaping’s installation crew may remove the sod for you.
As you have the older grass extracted it still is an excellent idea to treat the whole project space with Roundup or similar solution to ensure that weeds do not emerge at the seams between the segments of the new turf grass yard. You also will want to till your soil to a depth of a minimum of 4 and work organic matter inside the soil as you do. After you have tilled the soil, you will rake any clods of dirt or debris out and you will fill all depressions to make sure that your project space drains well.
Delivery of Turf Grass Sod
We’ll deliver grass with our piggyback forklift and truck. The delivery charge will be per trip and is based upon the mileage to a site from our office as well as the amount of pallets ordered. We’ll service any site within the Greenwich, CT area, however, we have pallet minimums established for every area. With diesel fuel becoming costlier every week, we can’t travel lengthy distances with minimal quantities of grass unless we set a high delivery fee.
Our delivery services might become site and weather dependent. As we deliver your grass, our forklifts have to run on firm ground to securely unload the grass. We discourage all drivers from driving their forklifts upon mud, loose dirt, or anything which may cause them to become stuck. Please be warned that our forklifts oftentimes leave marks on driveways, and might produce damage to grass if we travel on it.
Installation of Turf Grass Sod
If you have a desire to ensure that your investment in high-quality turf grass sod will result in a beautiful, long-lasting lawn, we’re able to help! Our skilled installation crew may install your fresh turf grass sod at an affordable price during a time that’s convenient for you. Simply call (203) 212-2498 and let us know how many square feet you wish to cover and we will provide you an estimate over the telephone. If extra work like dirt work or older grass has to be cleared from your site, we’ll send a crew member out to check your project space to offer an estimate based upon your unique situation.
The price of installation depends upon many factors which include but aren’t limited to:
- Amount of preparation work required. The site has to be properly graded and cleared. If it isn’t, we’ll send somebody out to check the site to provide an estimate of what it’ll take to address these items.
- Whether or not an area is accessible by forklift. If it’s a backyard which is fenced in or additional space that a forklift can’t access (forklift requires around 10 of vertical clearance and 9 of horizontal clearance), the grass has to be moved by wheelbarrow to your site. It’ll increase the amount of work and time involved significantly so we usually charge an extra $10.00/pallet of grass which must be moved by wheelbarrow, opposed to grass which may be placed on your site by a forklift.
- Distance the crew must travel to arrive to the job site and amount of pallets to be installed.
